Holiday clubs safeguarding

Spanish Singing is a sole trader business owned and operated by Cristina Montans Lorenzo. When necessary, volunteers will be engaged to support specific activities.

At Spanish Singing, we are committed to safeguarding the wellbeing of all children and young people who participate in our activities. We provide Spanish learning through singing and games for primary school children. While we are not required to be Ofsted registered, we strive to maintain the highest standards of care and safeguarding.

1. Commitment to Safeguarding

  • We ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children who attend our clubs.

  • All volunteers working directly with children are required to undergo background checks (specifically Enhanced DBS checks) in line with UK safeguarding regulations, if working with children unsupervised. All volunteers are also registered in the Update Service.

  • We foster a positive, inclusive environment where children can learn and have fun in a safe, respectful space.

2. Volunteer Conduct

  • All volunteers must act with professionalism and respect, ensuring clear boundaries and prioritising the welfare of the children.

  • Any inappropriate behaviour or misconduct will be addressed immediately, with actions taken to ensure the safety of the children.

  • Volunteers will receive basic safeguarding training to ensure they are aware of the signs of abuse and the procedures for reporting concerns.

3. Food and Allergy Management

  • We do not provide food to children; they are required to bring their own packed lunches and/or snacks to clubs.

  • All food brought to clubs must be nut-free, and we have a strict no food-sharing policy to prevent any issues related to allergies or intolerances.

  • Parents/guardians must inform us of any known allergies or dietary restrictions in advance to ensure we are aware of any potential risks.

5. Reporting Concerns

  • Any concerns about the safety or wellbeing of a child should be reported immediately to the designated safeguarding lead (Cristina Montans Lorenzo) at cristina@spanishsinging.com or via phone/WhatsApp on 07912185578.

  • All reports will be treated with the utmost seriousness and confidentiality. Actions will be taken in line with safeguarding procedures and UK legal requirements.

  • Parents and guardians can report concerns via cristina@spanishsinging.com or via phone/WhatsApp on 07912185578.

6. Club and Activity Supervision

  • Our holiday clubs are supervised by an experienced leader and volunteers who ensure the children are safe and engaged in age-appropriate, enjoyable activities.

  • Children will never be left unsupervised, and effective supervision will be in place at all times.

  • Parents/guardians are required to provide emergency contact details and notify us of any medical or dietary needs.

7. Policy Review

This policy is reviewed regularly to ensure that it reflects the latest safeguarding best practices and complies with all legal requirements. Latest review – 15 March 2025.
